This Privacy Policy describes how Tonefold ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Tonefold mobile application on Android and iOS.
Tonefold is an offline-first photo editor available on Android and iOS that lets you:
Tonefold does not require an account and does not ask you to provide your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, microphone access, or health information.
Important: Your photos are processed on your device. Tonefold does not upload your personal photos to our servers.
The app stores preference and cache data locally on your device so features work as expected. This may include:
We do not upload these local preferences or your recent-edit photos to our servers.
Tonefold uses Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial advertisements on Android and iOS. Google AdMob may collect or process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers (for example, Google Advertising ID on Android or Identifier for Advertisers / IDFA on iOS where permitted), IP address, approximate location inferred from IP address, app interactions, ad views, diagnostics, and other data described in Google's policies.
Google's handling of advertising data is governed by Google's own privacy policies and consent requirements. On Android, you can manage advertising identifiers and ad personalization in your Google settings. On iOS, you can manage App Tracking Transparency and related privacy settings in iOS Settings.
Tonefold integrates Google Firebase services, which may process technical information to help us operate and improve the app:
These services may receive identifiers and diagnostic data as described in Google's Firebase and Google privacy documentation. We do not use Firebase to create an account for you or to store your photos.
The app may request a public list of other developer apps from https://healthplate.org/api/projects. This request does not require an account and does not send your photos or edit history. When thumbnails are available, the app may load those thumbnail images over the network.
Like most web requests to healthplate.org, our server may receive standard technical information such as IP address, request time, and user agent string for security, reliability, and server operations.
If you allow notifications and enable the optional reminder, Tonefold may schedule a local on-device notification (for example, about 24 hours after you last opened the app). Reminder content is generic and does not include your photos. These reminders are scheduled locally and are not push messages from our servers.
We use information only to operate and improve the app experience:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your photos or local Tonefold edit data with third parties for their own marketing.
Information may be processed by third-party services used by the app, including Google AdMob, Google Firebase, and platform services from Google Play or the Apple App Store, as described in their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or services.
If you share an edited photo through your device’s system share sheet, the destination app you choose is responsible for its own handling of that content.
Tonefold uses or may interact with the following third-party services:
We encourage you to review Google's privacy policy, AdMob disclosures, Firebase disclosures, and Apple's privacy documentation for more information about those parties' data practices.
Your photos, recent-edit cache, presets, and preferences remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Exported photos saved to your gallery remain under your device storage control.
We do not keep a server copy of your Tonefold photos or edit history.
Server logs for requests to healthplate.org, and data retained by Google advertising or Firebase services, may be retained according to those services' policies and our operational needs for security and diagnostics.
Tonefold is intended for a general audience. The app does not require accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Advertising and analytics are provided by Google. Parents and guardians should review device-level ad, tracking, and privacy settings on Android or iOS as appropriate.
We use reasonable safeguards to protect our services. Local app data is protected by the Android or iOS app sandbox and device security features. Because editing happens on-device, your photos are not transmitted to Tonefold servers for processing. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you use Tonefold outside the United States, information processed by third-party services or our public server endpoints may be processed in the United States or other countries where those services operate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.
