Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Checkers ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Checkers mobile application on Android and iOS. The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children.

1. About Checkers

Checkers is an offline checkers game available on Android and iOS that lets you:

The app does not require an account and does not use a game server for matches. Computer opponents run on your device.

2. Information We Collect

Checkers does not require an account and does not ask you to provide your email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, camera access, microphone access, or health information. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar first-party analytics SDKs in the app.

2.1 Local App Settings, Saves, and Scores

The app stores gameplay preference, save, and score data locally on your device so the game can function properly. This may include:

This local data is stored on your device using the platform’s local storage mechanisms (for example, Android DataStore / preferences or iOS UserDefaults). We do not upload these settings, saves, or scores to our servers.

2.2 Advertising, Consent, and Device Information

Checkers uses Google AdMob to display banner and interstitial advertisements on Android and iOS. Ads may include content rated up to Google’s mature (MA) ad content rating. The app is configured so ad requests are not treated as child-directed or under-age-of-consent.

Google AdMob (and related Google advertising components) may collect or process information such as:

Consent (EEA / UK / Switzerland and similar regions): Where required, we use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent and present a consent form before initializing ads or loading personalized advertising. If privacy options must remain available, the app may show an Ad privacy options entry in Settings so you can change your choices later.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS): On iOS 14 and later, the app may request permission to track across apps and websites for personalized advertising (IDFA). You can allow or deny this request, and you can change the choice later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Google’s handling of advertising data is governed by Google’s own policies. Learn more at Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob & privacy.

2.3 Developer App Catalog Request

Where offered, the app may request a public list of other developer apps from https://healthplate.org/api/projects. This request does not require an account and does not send your checkers board state, saves, scores, or settings. When thumbnails are available, the app may load those thumbnail images over the network.

Like most web requests to healthplate.org, our server may receive standard technical information such as IP address, request time, and user agent string for security, reliability, and server operations.

2.4 Local Notifications

If you allow notifications and enable optional play reminders, Checkers may schedule a local on-device reminder (for example, about a day after you last played). Reminder content is generic and does not include personal account information. These reminders are scheduled locally and are not push messages from our servers.

3. How We Use Information

We use information only to operate and improve the app experience:

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your local Checkers settings, saves, or scores with third parties.

Information may be processed by third-party services used by the app, including Google AdMob / Google’s User Messaging Platform and platform services from Google Play or the Apple App Store, as described in their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or services.

5. Third-Party Services

Checkers uses or may interact with the following third-party services:

We encourage you to review Google’s and Apple’s privacy documentation for more information about those parties’ data practices.

6. Data Retention

Your app preferences, saves, stats, and scores remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app. We do not keep a server copy of your Checkers settings, saves, scores, or game activity.

Server logs for requests to healthplate.org may be retained for a limited period for security, diagnostics, and operational purposes. Advertising and consent data retained by Google is governed by Google’s policies.

7. Your Choices and Rights

8. Children’s Privacy

Checkers is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of providing a children’s experience, and we do not configure the app as a child-directed or “Designed for Families” / Kids Category product.

Because the app shows ads that may include mature (MA) inventory and may request personalized advertising / tracking where allowed, it is not intended as a kids-only product. If you believe we have collected personal information from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect our services. Local app data is protected by the Android or iOS app sandbox and device security features. Gameplay against the computer runs on your device and does not require sending board state to our servers. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Users

If you use Checkers outside the United States, information processed by third-party services (such as Google) or our public server endpoints may be processed in the United States or other countries where those services operate. Where required, we rely on consent mechanisms (such as Google UMP) and other lawful bases described by those providers for cross-border advertising processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.

12. Contact Information

For privacy-related questions or data requests, contact us at:
